Whole Foods NYC Vegan Food with non-vegan ingredients
Posted August 13th, 2007 Report an Error

Upon visiting the Union Square Whole Foods Market twice in one week, there were items labeled VEGAN nice and big, found to have honey in them. The first time a manager and few employees were spoken to, and they were very polite and apologized and said they would deal with the issue. The following saturday upon returning to the store, the problem was found again in the same area with a different item. Employees were notified again and made to take down the sign labeling the item vegan. A call has been made to the store and email sent to the corporate office. We urge you to contact them as well as this is very unacceptable. We will be looking into the laws in the NYC and NY State area. There are a quite a few whole foods in the city and about 4 more opening this year, we have yet to check out the other locations, and could use a few more hands in doing so. If you are able to help out please use our contact form.

To Whom It May Concern:

Can you please email me the list of ingredients that are not supposed to be in vegan foods?   And what are the replacers for these items?

My email address is sbutris@yahoo.com.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

S. Butris

there seems to be a serious lack of education at Whole Foods.  An employee at the Long Beach, CA location insisted that honey was vegan when I was inquiring about bread.
