About a month ago we let you know about Whole Foods serving items labeled vegan that contained honey in them. Well it seems that they have outdone themselves. This weekend someone kindly purchased a piece of cake for me from Whole Foods with a sticker on it that said VEGAN. Before attempting to eat the cake a few days later I decided to check the ingredients because of past experiences with Whole Foods. It turned out that the ingredients contained Whole Milk, Eggs, and Butter.
I once again sent an email to the corporate office, and today called them. The manager of the bakery really had nothing to say. The only comment he made was, "maybe they put the wrong label on it".
We have not yet been able to check back on the food bar items containing honey, but we did visit Whole Foods in Philadelphia and everything checked out. This seems to be an issue with in the New York City area.

If this continues, it calls for a law suit.

Actually I wanted to get some prepared food in a whole foods in Plantation Florida , they had vegan lasagna for a limited time and it said Vegan on it , they lady told me that it was not vegan they used real cheese , I went back the next day and someone else told me the same thing is vegan , I decided to get a couple more answers and they we're all mixed one was not sure, another said it was and I called them out on it about the original woman telling me they used real cheese!
I think the company in general needs to have more vegan organic foods!
I am speaking for about 4 stores in my area!
and a couple hours and hours away I have witnessed as well!
cheers!

It is the same at the Whole Foods where I live, too. I don't think that their employees really know what vegan means. They used to label the prepared foods as Vegan and then they stopped. I think that it was because the label "vegan" deterred sales of those particular items. I requested additional vegan bakery items on their suggestion forms. They replied that they already have a good variety. It's a good variety if you want to eat the same few choices all of the time. Even my dog, contrary to what some canine experts say, has a pickup in appetite when i offer him a new dog food. I think that what I am going to do is open my own vegan restaurant right next to Whole Foods where I live and then maybe they will try to buy me out like they did with Wild Oats.

This doesn't surprise me in the least.
I haven't shopped at Whole Foods in over two years because they are all about their "team members" and not about the customer.
I can tell stories about that place that would make one's head spin.
Especially the one in Montclair, New Jersey, where the service is the absolute worst! They food was never fresh and I was always bringing back rancid spinach.
Not only do they mislabel vegan items, they say things are organic that aren't.
And almost every item in the store has sugar in it!
Definitely not a health food store!

They probably did put the wrong label on it. Everyone makes mistakes.

I cant stand whole foods.
Everytime I go to shop the produce is next to the meat and fish departments and the meat , dairy products are alll showcased next to the so called vegan options they think vegan is honey dairy and eggs..... they arent at all concerned about harming animals or bees in the name of corp. america....they are not concerned about consumers who would like higher standards from the food store chain... They dont know what vegan is, and if they do...they dont care. I am a kosher vegan and if you are kosher you cant shop there everything is made or showcased together..

I understand,
Me and a friend have had small isuues with VEGAN labels on foods and seeing that honey or milk based products have been used....it's a real shame. And when we asked if the problem could be fixed, the manager said he would give us 10% off our entire bill to make up for the issue. It was a nice offer but I'd rather see that I can purchace my foods without having to read the back of it first....
